Welcome to Macclesfield Silk Museums. This unique story is presented across three museums: The Silk Industry Museum on Park Lane follows the full journey through the industrial process of silk making; explore silk from the cocoon to the loom. With plenty of hands-on exhibits for children and adults alike!
Next door is Paradise Mill. A working Victorian Silk Mill, take a tour with one of friendly guides who will transport you right back to the early 1900's to give you a first hand experience of life working in a Silk Mill. With 26 restored Jacquard Looms to give you a taste of industrial Macclesfield. Next visit the Heritage Centre to see our silk costume collection and visit the silk merchant shop! Housed within the Sunday School building, the museum follows the lives of the Silk Industries creators as well as exploring the finished product of silk in our costume galleries. Browse our fair-trade items, and our selection of products created by local artists in the Silk Merchant Shop. Complete your visit to the Macclesfield Silk Museums with a visit to the Mulberry Tree Cafe, serving hot cooked breakfasts, home made soups for lunch and delicious cakes for a spot of afternoon tea!
