Practical Information

Entrance to Paradise Mill is by guided tour and last approximately 1 hour. There is a maximum of 30 people per tour. However, larger groups can be split with one group visiting the Silk Museum whilst the other group take the Mill tour and then swap over.

The visit to the Silk Museum is self-directed and takes approximately 1 hour.

On arrival the Visitor Services team will meet you at the Silk Museum and your mill guide will collect the group from there.

There is a drop-off point outside the front door, coach parking £5 for up to 10 hours on Duke Street Car Park, SK11 6UR, which is 0.2 miles from the Silk Museum (5 minute walk).

There are a number of programmes for school groups covering art, history and science. Tours are available for further, higher and adult education groups.

We offer a special 'Trouble At Mill' experience which combines a visit to the Mill with a visit to the Old Sunday School (5 minutes walk away). This gives visitors the opportunity to find out about the life of the silk weavers, but also visit our Victorian school room and take a lesson with Ma'am or Master as the young weavers did during the 19th century.

There are toilet facilities for disabled visitors in the Silk Museum.

There is step free access available to the Silk Museum, with a platform lift to the special exhibition gallery.

There are 3 flights of stairs at Paradise Mill. A lift is available, but must be operated by the Mill Guide so an indication of numbers requiring the lift prior to the tour is helpful.

Pre-booking for groups is essential
