Here at Macclesfield Silk Museums we pride ourselves on having a variety of unique exhibitions. Here is a preview of our upcoming 2013 exhibitions: In March 2013, we welcome Bollington Embroidery Group and their exhibition 'Tied to Silk'. This body of work links together embroidery with the silk industry of Macclesfield. The group have produced an assortment of local scenes hand embroidered on silk backgrounds. There will be work using recycled material such as the local newspaper 'Macclesfield Express' and a selection of 3D silk vessels.
In June 2013, embroidery royalty Sue Rangeley brings her latest exhibition to the Silk Industry Museum. 'Fashioned with Stitch' explores a diversity of themes: botanical references intertwine with vintage fashion influences; the heritage of the silk industry inspires innovative directions for Sue's embroidery. On display will be some new works, created especially for this solo show at the Macclesfield Silk Museum'.
In August 2013, the 'Embroiderers Guild' will be bringing their latest exhibition 'Finest Stitches'. A selection of superb embroideries showcasing the marvelous talents of the Embroiderers Guild.
